Dendrobates azureus

Although closely related to the dying Poison Arrow Frog, there are both colour and structural differences between the species.

The range of the Blue Poison Frog is very limited and hard to access, they can often be found under rocks and other covers, especially moss, near but not in streams.

Males are quiet callers from a position in the trees or on a rock.

Females are attracted by the call and draw the males attention by stroking his snout and back.
